Birthday party fun

Ansen got to go to his friends birthday party this past weekend and he couldn't stop talking about ALL week last week.
They were going paint balling and he was so excited.
And then he got there and he got nervous. He decided not to go in. He called and we talked and I told him he had to try it just once.  He was shaking and crying and refusing to go BUT his awesome friends got him in there and after his first round he decided "he was going to go paint balling everyday for the rest of his life."
That's my boy!

Dr. appt

Rammy wasn't happy about his appointment but he was very well behaved.  I guess there's that.

Him

1. He should have been a math teacher. 2. I'm so glad he's home to explain improper fractions. 3. I can barely do 3rd grade math --even with my business degree. 4. He's handsome.

Talks and lessons

Things to mention.

Jason spoke during Sacrament Meeting on Easter and did an amazing job.  That guy has a gift for public speaking.  Wish you could have been there.

I taught the Easter lesson in Young Womens.  Outside the egg there was a number and a scripture reference. Inside, I filled eggs with things representing the last days of the Saviors life.
Before the lesson started each girl chose and egg and then the lesson began with #1 and finished with #12.
I feel the lesson went pretty well. I think the girls enjoyed.  I know I did.

The fun stuff

1. Baskets:
 2. A cute lil' poem from the Easter bunny asking mom and dad to hide the eggs due to a time crunch.
 3. Easter egg hunting in our jammies bc its too hard to stay in our Sunday clothes after church, especially after 8am church.
*Notice that someone is missing.  Apparently she's "too old."  Not too though old to steal the real eggs before I could make egg salad sandwiches.......teenagers.

Happy Easter!

Easter

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

Today we are grateful for our Savior and for His gift to mankind.  Because of Him we are blessed with eternal life.

Happy Easter from our family to yours.

Easter egg dying

I had one willing participant this year.  Kahau was playing ultimate frisbee and Braley was at a friends. And Jason?  Well let's just say that when it comes to Easter eggs the title Scrooge does not only apply to Christmas (I'm not implying he's a Christmas scrooge at all.  He's quite the opposite.  I'm getting off track)  Oh well, they're loss.

Love these stained fingers!

Flag football

Flag football is new to our towns rec sports programs and so when we heard about it we knew we had to give it a try and boy are we glad we did.
Two words: (actually 3)--So. Freaking. Fun.
Braley:
She got the FIRST touch down for her team.  It was awesome!!!! I think she hardly believe it was happening. Man did we cheer for her!  This girlie had a fantastic first game. We are so proud of her for trying something new.
Ansen: first play of the game he ran the ball for a touch down.   And then he did it again, and again and again!!!  Jason was beside himself with thoughts of are all star running back.  The whole time this kids was running up and down the field there was a smile plastered to his face!  Who can blame him.

Here's to a great season!
(And a dry, warm one too!)

My 1st world problems

I've got it rough you guys.
Like, "I can't even deal" rough.
(disclaimer: Is "I can't even deal" a complete thought?  I hear teenagers saying it all the time and they seem to know what each other means but I'm in the dark.  I take it to mean "My life sucks.")
Anywho--back to me.

Part 1:
Monday my van wouldn't start.  **We actually don't call it the van anymore.  We call it " mom's office." It makes me feel official when I am doing stuff like getting gas and waiting in the worst traffic ever.** So my office wouldn't start.  No prob, ask the neighbor for a jump.  Except for the little fact that the hood on my car wouldn't open. What?  Our auto shop came out and after some maneuvering they got it opened, started, and took it to the shop to find out the problem.  The problem is a glitch of some sort  and it's a big problem because the piece that they need to fix it up all nice and brand new is not being manufactured at this time.
Say what?!?!
Ya, that's what I said.  They will be making 25 of the piece I need (in May) so I got on the list to get one and guess what?  I'm #28.  Again, they are only making 25.  SO while we wait for a piece my radio doesn't work (no biggie), the dvd player doesn't work (so what?) and the windows won't roll down.  I have never prayed for cooler weather but you better believe I am now.
To continue with the saga, last night after teaching a class I got in my office and turned it on and smoke started coming out of the steering column.  So after a quick freak out I locked the van (my office betrayed me), called a friend for a ride, called the Automotive place to come get it, and then called Jason.
Geez Louise.

Part 2:
Not as bad as a smoking van but still a pain.  Like literally.  The back of my left ankle has been killing me this week.  I've self diagnosed myself with Achilles Tendinitis and then left a professional tell me I'm right.  It's so stiff and achy and down right annoying.  I don't have the time or patience for it but Achilles Tendinitis don't care.  Jerk.  So I'm babying it, soaking it, stretching it, thinking nice thoughts to it and hoping it starts treating me nice.
I'm telling you, this healthy and fit thing makes me feel like an old woman some days.

Part 3:
This one is for real.
3 young women that I have had the chance to work with over the past few years are expecting.  It bums me out a bit to know that their childhood is past and they are on to a hectic life of baby worries and every day struggles.

Part 4:
I could handle all my other problems if this one did not tip the scale and send me straight to crazy town.
I have ONE of every slipper.  And its only the left foots so I can't even pretend I didn't know I was wearing mismatched slippers.  It's like the world is against me you guys.
I just need a genie to bring me my ultimate wish...
and then everything would be right in the world.

Indian Bear hunt

Ansen has 2 days off of school for parent teacher conferences.  His bow and arrow has been at his side the whole time.  I'm pretty sure that the "wild bear"  Ansen has been hunting the past few days can't wait for this Indidan to go back to school on Monday.

Snuggle buddy

Remember that stray cat that Jason was nice to?  We call her Kitty because  I think her real name is dumb (for the record "Kitty" is dumb too but we are just too lazy to call her anything else) and she is still squatting at our house.  At first she just stuck to a corner in the living room, keeping her distance from everyone. I'm pretty sure the only reason she came in the house to begin with was she was so cold and she just wanted somewhere warm to sleep.  Then, she ventured into the family room when we would be in there.  She still didn't want anything other than to observe us.
NOW?...girlfriends up in everybody's business.
In the kitchen? So is she.  In the bathroom? She is sitting right outside the door waiting for you.  Bedtime?  She's been settling down into a corner most nights.  Last night I couldn't find her and thought maybe the kids had put her out. I made my bedtime rounds checking on everyone before I went to bed and guess who I found snuggled up with Ansen?
Do you think she still counts as a stray?

Ohhhhhhh, that's why

When my kids were little I was pretty thin.  Now that I have all the time in the whole to "manage my weight" some days I feel as big as a house.  You'd think by not eating everyone's unfinished meals, leftover snacks and stale treats from the diaper bag I'd actually look like I've lost the baby weight.  But its quite the opposite my friends.  Me and the baby weight have come to be good friends.
Just the other day my cute little neighbor was over for a bit and during that bit I decided to have a little lunch.  It was as if she was a shark I was a wounded seal.  She swarmed!
Then, I got it!
It wasn't that all those years ago I was finishing everyone's meals and inhaling everything in sight, I was just trying to get through a meal before the vultures ascended and ate my meal out from under me.  I'm sure she ate more than me and folk, I am ok with that!  How could I deny such a cute face?  PLUS she totally helped me eat a proper portion and not a "Dana portion."
I'm telling you, toddlers are the best diet supplement ever.
But if you can't get a hold of a toddler...get a dog.  Or a stray cat.  They are pretty close to toddlers.
(This was after we finished out lunch btw)
You better believe that if there are tacos on my plate that I will not be sharing. It's every man for yourself  when it comes to me and my tacos.

Suggestion box

To celebrate another term of good grades for you 3 smarty pants we went out for frozen yogurt.  Kahau immediately went for the insanly large cup and Jason, in his wisdom immediately told her to put it back.  In her 13 year old wisdom she found the suggestion box and as she was writing her suggestion that parents couldn't limit the amount their children could consume, her pen ran out of ink.
Sucks to be her, doesn't it?

Temple trip

We had a youth baptism trip tonight and most of my girls were able to make it.  I really am so in awe of what awesome girls these are.  They have it all: beauty, personality, strength, stellar testimonies.  These ladies are the whole enchilada.
Love them dearly!

Birthday party

We made a quick trip up to Washington (Tri-cities) to celebrate Keily's 2nd birthday and this is the only picture I have.  It was a fun party and this girl is cute.
The end.
