5th grade music program

This week was also Jayden's music program.
Her class sang first about an Octopus' garden which included a white girl rapping.  Seriously, you can't get that just anywhere.
The 2nd number we were delighted with was a oldie and a goody.  Her class busted out with some Johnny Cash.  Awwwwww, yea.  And they were good.
Here's a Jayden and to her right in the green is one of her favorite friend Lexi and another favorite friend is just below her in the glasses, Brakelle.

Great job 5th grade!  You guys rock!

Kindergarten music program

Aloha!
This week was Ansen's kindergarten music program and it was great!  Each class sang a bunch of songs and then did a dance representing a culture from around the world.  Ansen's class were Polynesians and they danced to a song from Lilo and Stitch.
Left to Right: Hailey, Ansen and Mia.  Mia's class did a dance from Mexico.
Before the program soaking in the sun.
On the risers getting ready to sing.
My boy in his lava lava.. I just want to squeeze him, he's so cute.

Good job Ms. Teyler's class!
You did awesome!

Potato derby

Each month our ward has a different activity.  With the new "no activities committee" rule each auxiliary rotate months.  This was our (the Young Women's) month and it was supposed to be a pine wood derby until one of our girls suggested a potato derby.  Something different, something unique, something we had to try.
Meet the Widing family car, Piggly Wiggly.
Jason worked tirelessly for about 25 minutes perfecting dear old Piggly Wiggly until he was in prime shape to race.
Here are a bunch of the entries...

After seeing every body's spuds we decided that P.W. needed a little something more.  So he got a mustache!  There, now he looks perfect and ready to win, win, win.
Jason did a great job creating P.W. because he kept winning!
In fact he took the whole thing.  We won!
 Way to go Team Widing!

What a fun activity!

Big Al

Sometimes you get to do cool this.  Like really cool things.
 Take today for example.
Earlier this week Ms. Teyler (Ansen's teacher) and I had this conversation:
Her: What are you guys doing Friday after school?
Me: Not much, only swim lessons.
Her:  You should come by my class around 4 pm to meet Big Al.  The kids will love him.
Me:  Sounds fun.  Who's Big Al?
Her: An alligator.
Me: Great, we'll be there.
Silly me.  I thought Big Al wouldn't be all that big.  Wrong-o.  Big Al was 3 1/2 ft long and longer when you included his tall.  And, again silly me, I thought his mouth would be taped so, you know, he wouldn't eat any children.  Wrong-o again.  He totally could have eaten us up cause his jaws were loosey goosey.
Big Al is a lover, not a fighter and boy did our 3 fall in la-uh-vvvvvv.

Ansen did give Al a little lesson on listening.  As he (Al) was making his way to him (Ansen) our little man promptly dropped to his knees and commanded "STAY!"   And for the most part Al listened.  I think we have the Alligator Whisperer in our midst.

Molly the Snapping Turtle was also visiting the Kindergarten room as well.  She was not friendly, not was she kid friendly.  However she was cool to look at.
 Peace out!

One day....

One day Ammon, Nephi, Heleman and Captain Moroni were out doing missionary work when they came across someone who was totally "golden."
His name was Clarke and although the young missionaries questioned the cape and tights they felt this super guy was surely baptismal material.  They taught and Clarke asked questions.  And guess what?
Now Clarke is a missionaries too!
Now the 5 are all missionaries in the wonderful Kingdom of Magic...aka...Disney World.
****
Love Ansen and his imagination.
****
ps.  I may have embellished the "golden" part.  I think Ansen's descriptive word for Superman was "nice."
Borrrrrring.

Happy 6th Ansen!

Our boy is 6 big ones!!! And he only wanted to do one thing today.  Go to a local fun center called Bullwinkles.
So we did.
We rode go karts...twice.
Twice is enough to hold me over for the next year or so but the kids could go around and around all day if you let them.  That amazes me.

 We played lazer tag.
We were the red team.

Ansen was so unsure about playing cause it was dark and the other team was full of big kids but he held his own and in the end he had a lot of fun.

The weather we beautiful today.  Not a cloud in the sky so we hit the bumper boats.  Before getting on Jason and I told the kids "Squirt people don't soak people."  Yeahhhhhhh, apparently other people believe soaking strangers is totally fine so it was war.  We all came off drenched.

After swim lessons and some pizza presents were our priority.
Cash, and new bat, books and more for this birthday boy.  Lucky guy!
And for dessert he wanted mini cupcakes.  How simply simple was that for me?

We knew when he entered our lives that we would love having him around and all I have to say is he fits perfect in our little family.
Happy Birthday Ansen.
We love~love~love you!
