Bulldog wrestling

I can't say enough about how much Ansen loved wrestling.  He learned so much, made new friends and got great exercise. His enthusiasm for learning more was exciting to watch and man, oh man, he took to it like a fish in water.  He was a superstar on the mat.

On the last day of practice they did a lot of live wrestling. Ansen just took down wrestler after wrestler after wrestler.  It was awesome!

He's decided that he will be wrestling again next winter (maybe sooner) and he's already ready to work hard and get better.
Go Bulldogs!

New Beginnings

We were finally able to have our New Beginnings (it was cancelled due to our snow storm).  Our theme was "Diamond In the Rough."
We talked to the girls about the process that we are put through in this life to help perfect ourselves.  We talked about personal progress and we (tried) to get them excited for Girls Camp.
I can't help but love these girls and be excited for the 6 new ones (eeeekkkkk!) we are getting this year!

Ward talent show

The Primary required each auxiliary to have a act in the ward talent show.  We begged for them to let the Young Women out of it.  The primary said no.  So this is what they got. Chin people singing "Do You Want To Build a Snowman?"
It wasn't really a talent.....def. more of an "act".....and even though I hate to admit it, it was fun.
Kahau is the 2nd from the left (this a pic from one of our practices).  Ansen and his friends were the Glowing Stick Men again and Braley and her friends did a dance.  I'm not a fan of talent shows but this was really fun.

Hot Hands

Ansen's class had an Invention Convention today and it was awesome!  All 3rd graders had to come up with an invention that they would like to sell to people. As a parent my job was to make sure the invention was possible. Ansen was super excited about his first idea but I had to nix it.  You see, his first idea was a hat with 2 attachments on the side that held cans of soda so that you could have soda whenever you wanted....or, in other words, a beer hat thingy.
On to idea #2:
Ansen created gloves that have pocket in each finger area that hold hand warmers so that your fingers stay toasty while you are playing outside in the snow.
Ansen had to write a paper about his product, make a poster board and make a prototype.

The Invention Convention was so fun.  It was great to walk around see what all the 3rd graders imagined up and there were some pretty cool ideas. My very favorite was this cute kiddos.

Quick trip to Central Oregon

You can't go on a road trip without fueling up.  No, not the car. Your body.  Hellllloooo Tai food.
The ride to and from Central Oregon was mainly spent like this...sprinkle in a little bickering and a few "I have to go to the bathroom's" and it was a pretty easy 3 hours.

Once to the hotel the boys settled down with a movie while us girls watched the Olympics.  We've never been huge fans of the winter Olympics but this year we are loving them. Maybe because with all our crazy weather it feels like winter to us.  Too bad in Sochi, Russia (where the Olympics are being held) it's 60 degrees out.
Rammy just wondered all weekend why were weren't at home and what they heck was the deal with the hotel.  He didn't have a problem making himself comfy on the kids beds though.
The weather was beautiful.  Crisp but blue skies.  It was nice to see some blue.  The grey can sometimes feel overwhelming.
In the town we stayed in there is a canyon that runs right thru the center. We took a family walk and explored.  It was cool and there was tons of climbing for the kids.

On our way back over the mountain we stopped for lunch and look what we came across!  A broken down Wiener mobile.  It was our lucky day!

Thanks for the fun Central Oregon.  See you next time!

Snowmageddon

The weather man predicted snow but we didn't really believe him.  I mean, we never get snow and we most defiantly don't ever get a lot of it. But then the craziest thing happened.  It started snowing and snowing hard. The kids were over the moon happy.

It didn't take long for them to layer up (we don't have much in the way of snow clothes) and get outsides for hours of fun.

The snow kept falling and those lucky ducks had a snow day on Friday.  I was excited. They were excited. Jason cancelled his trip and we just hunkered down, watched the snow fall, played board games and got ready for the Opening Ceremonies of the Winter Olympics.  What a fun start to the weekend.
Do you want to build a snowman?
And then it snowed some more.
And some more...

Anddddd some more...
The ladies worked for hours building a snow cave.  They really wanted to sleep in it but since they built it in the road we had to nix that idea.  It was cool hang out though!
The kids hit the jackpot with another snow day on Monday and Ansen hit an even bigger jackpot with a teacher work day on Tuesday.  I have to admit that having the snow around for a few days was a lot of fun but I am so glad it melted as quick as it came.
See you again in 5 years Jack Frost!
