Career Day

Career day is the best. It's just as fun as Halloween. You get to dress up and be whatever you want. The girls were so excited to choose an occupation today.
Miss Brays. What else is there to say? Guess what she choose. Jayden decided today she wants to be a brain surgeon. Firstly, we had to clarify the word surgeon because for some reason she wanted to be a "surgent." Maybe that's a cross between a surgeon and a drill Sargent?
A chef is Brlaey's occupation of choice. Braley loves to eat so it would only make sense that she cook for a living.

I would not object to having a brain surgeon and chef in my family!

Braley Was 7, A Month Ago

Soooooo, I am not on top of anything right now. Not surprised? Me either. This past month has just been too hectic, too busy and way too long. In an effort to be a better blogger and mother here are Braley's birthday party pictures.

For her birthday she wanted everyone to get their nails done. So she and I took a quick trip to Wal Mart and she picked out her three favorite colors of polish.
Then everyone got their fingers and toes done.
Not surprisingly, with a house full of girlies the sparkle and pink polishes were a hit.
Pizza is Braley's most favorite food. With hands and feet looking fabulous it was time to pig out!

Our 7 year old choose cupcakes in the shape of flowers this year. I think they came out cute and they were the perfect amount of sugar.

Polish and pizza were followed by watching the newly released Hannah Montana: The Movie dvd. Eight girls singing Hannah at the top of their lungs....oh the joys! This shiny new bike is Braley's new baby. She picked it out herself and is loving it. Obviously, it is pink. And sparkly. And 100% girl.
Braley, I am sorry I didn't these pictures up sooner. I love you. You are going to have a great year!

Hula

I've been taking hula classes since last January. I really like it. I'm not very good but that is totally beside the point. I have a really good time with some great friends. Lately we have been "performing" at local functions. It is a riot.
Tonight I had to hula and Jason was stuck in traffic so the kiddos came along. To keep them entertained I handed them our camera. Here is a photo synopses of tonight's show:
#1: Here I am getting ready to do my best on a dance (actually, war chant) we learned four days ago. Overall it didn't go half bad. I give it a 7 out of 10. Me in my pea green dress. It is actually quite pretty.

My friend Raina (rhymes with Dana). We are in the Primary Presidency together. She is so fun to dance with.
Have you met my torso? No? Well there it is.
(Picture take by Ansen)
Me and my friend Maile...well Maile's hair.
Outfit #2. Also this is new dance.
My behind. Nice, huh? You can die happy now.

There you go! Hula on a Friday night. Kids with a camera. Husband not stuck in traffic anymore. Nighty, night!

Wish Granted

These ladies got their hair done last weekend and daddy let them get color! Braley now has purple streaks and a cute bob.
Jayden now has pink streaks and a sassy layered cut.
They were so excited to finally get the color they have been asking for. They have been asking for well over a year. I guess persistence pays.
Don't they look great?

Oktoberfest, Part 2

Another successful family outing! Every fall this is one of the kids favorite things to do. They love to count down the days to chicken dancing, bratwurst eating and dessert tasting. Secretly I am glad because it means I get another day to gorge myself on all the wonderful food. While the food is primo, so is the entertainment. Traditional German dances with traditional German clothing with a traditional live German polka band. It's awesome.

I'd also like to point out the traditional German socks accompanied by the traditional and incredibly white German legs. Hhhhhot!

Once the pro's were done dancing we did our thang and showed all those Germans how the Swedes and Dutch boogie. We pretty much rocked the Chicken dance and the Hokey Pokey.

This little guy fell in love with the Chicken dance this year!
Her shirt says it all!

Any chance this child gets to break it down...whoa! Watch out!

And don't forget the food.
Marion berry cobbler!
Again, oh. so. good.
Corn on the cob always a huge hit.
And our beloved Apple Butter Cake. This is by far our family favorite. It is a heart attack in a paper dish but man oh man it is worth the clogged arteries.
We love love love us some Oktoberfest.
Can't wait til next year.
Wanna come?

Oktoberfest, Part 1

Just us grown-ups went to Oktoberfest last night. We left the kids home with a sitter and danced and ate ourselves silly. We love this time of year.
Marion berry cobbler. Drool-a-licious.
Schnitzel with all the fixin's.
Jason after the pig out.
Michelle and Scot actually live in town. These two are so lucky.
Jenn and Dave had never been before. NEXT year Dave will chicken dance!
Taking 5 in between the chicken dance and the hokey pokey.
I got an offer for some free polka lessons so I had to borrow a strangers shoes.
Me during my stellar lesson. Not to toot my own horn, but I am a natural.

The food and the music were as amazing as usual.
It's always a great date night.
Next year we are committed to wearing traditional German clothing!
