The cup song

They are...

just a little bit...

And I think it's so cute.

Cub scout camp

Man oh man was this boy ever excited for cub scout camp.  So excited, in fact that he was up at 5:30am on the first day.
They focused on being knights and being brave, courageous, trustworthy, strong and true. He learned a little first aid, made weapons, cooked outside, went on a little hike and all around loved hanging with boys his age.  And because he's the only boy, I know he loved.
He is so thrilled to be able to attend next year and just tonight I had to tell him only 52 more weeks (give or take) until he could go again.
Love this kid.

I give up

Maybe I am feeling dramatic, but I'm serious.
Today for a snack I made myself a peanut butter and honey sandwich and guess what? One of my (many) crowns fell right out of my head AND the tooth about it pretty much crumbled to nothing.
I could just scream but I won't because I don't want anyone to see inside my mouth.

For years my dentists have come up with plans to save my ever-breaking, ever-crumbling teeth.  They want to break my jaw and re-align my mouth-but that won't help, they want to give me braces-but that won't help, they want me to wear a grind plate night and day so my teeth aren't so flat-I grid through my plate. And while we are trying to figure out a solution to this unsolvable problem, Jason and I just keep forking money over hand and fist to the dentist for busted teeth.

So, today I give up and accept that I need dentures.

I have no shame in it.  I have been told over and over that there is nothing I can do to help my teeth. It's just the luck of the draw.  I was expressing to my friend how embarased I am about my crappy teeth a while ago  and she said "You don't make fun of people with glasses, do you?"
"Of course not" was my reply. Admittedly I'm often secretly jealous of the sassy glasses my Braley wears.
Her: "We can't help being blind any more than you can help your teeth not working for ya."
Me: "But glasses are cute."
Her: "Well, just think of how envious everyone is going to be of your perfect teeth."
She was just trying to make me feel better and it kinda, maybe worked......a tad.

So thus beings the search for awesome teeth that are going to allow me to be me!
Annnnnnnnd I'm taking any donations for this b/c it's not cheap.

A bunch of invalids

That's right, the whole bunch of us.
Jase hurt the front of his ankle, remember?
Just as his ankle started feeling better his back flared up and he has been a very unhappy camper lately.
*****
Then, over the past few weeks, (the back of my left ankle) my Achilles has really been bothering me. I've been told its tendinitis. It stinks and it hurts.
Like, it really hurts.  So I had the genius idea to wear Jason's boot to keep it stabilized.  Dumb idea. Dragging that thing around made my hip hurt, but it also made my Achilles feel better.
Double edge sword.
*****
This past weekend the kids and dad were playing Tomahawk. BTW-I don't think it's even a real game.  It's just a reason to kick people without getting in trouble. Kahau got a nasty kick to the shin and her knee swelled up and it's bugging her.
Dang it.
*****
Today at scout camp Ansen took and fall and scraped up his knee.  He was pretty sure he needed real-live medical attention BUT not at the time it happened, cause he was too brave to say it hurt.  5 hours later after he came home he was pretty sad and scraped up.  Good news, he'll survive.  Bad news, we have gone thru a bunch of band aids today.
Well shoot.
*****
And Braley, if the girl would just put shoes on her feet maybe they wouldn't constantly be getting slivers and little rocks stuck in her heels.
Shoes! Girlie, shoes!

Good times at our house!

The Presidio

The Presidio of San Francisco is a park and former militarty base on the northern tip of the S.F. Peninsula, and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
It also makes you feel like you stepped into Old world Europe.
It was amazingly beautiful and so unique.

I just love finding new places!

The Golden Gate Bridge

I wanted to cross the Golden Gate Bridge. I wanted to really, really bad....except for the fact that I hate driving over bridges. So does Jason!

We did it and we lived and we can now cross that off our bucket list.

One of our idols

It's pretty obvious that we love us some Disney.  We were able to visit this museum and it was rad.  The museum focused on Walt Disney from birth to death and not so much his parks but his creativity and kindness.
 And the characters he created.

And how he helped the war efforts as an early entrepreneur.
And how he came up with the concept for Walt Disney World and EPCOT in particular.
Most of all we learn how kind he was, what a philanthropist he was and what a nice family he had.
I absolutely love this award that was given to him. It takes a pretty cool person to be Showman of the World.

Lombard St.

Curviest street in American is an understatement and so fun to walk.

We did indeed drive down it and yes, Jason pretended like he was on a race car track. What can I say? He's so mature.

It really is a pretty city isn't it?

San Fran sights

Honestly the houses here are so dang cool.  It would be fun to live here someday.......just not now.
We learned how the cable cars keep San Fran on schedule.

The hills, oh the hills.  These next 2 pics don't do the slopes justice.  I vow to you (and myself NEVER to drive a stick in San Fran...ever.)

Jason took his 1st trip on a cable car, along with 100 other tourists.
 One word: Chocolate.

After we wlaked up a very steep, very long hill (Nob hill), we took 5 in a local church.

Isn't it beautiful?

Chinatown

Even though we were in "sunny" California, it was not sunny.  It hovered around 60* and the wind just kept blowing.  That's alright though.  Had it been hot it would have been uncomfortable walking those San Fran hills.  We ventured out to Chinatown to see what there was to see. Quite a bit actually if you don't mind all the cigarette smoke.  Seriously, it was like everyone has a cigarette. Weird.

Jason insisted we have some local cuisine.  It wasn't awful. But then again I was more focused on whether the glass I was drinking out of was clean or not. I didn't get sick so I guess it was clean enough.
We made a trip to a local fortune cookie factory.  You had to pay $.50 for every picture you took.

In return for the pictures Jason and I paid for we got fortune cookies.  In my hand.  Without a bag.  Just a whole lot of warm fortune cookies.  So we ate a couple and then dumped the rest on some southern family with kids walking toward us in an alley.  What else was I supposed to do?

Thanks for being a site to see Chinatown!
